Quick Weight Loss Diet

Practically everyone who has ever tried to lose weight at one time or another searches for the perfect quick weight loss diet.  With all the new fad diets, diet pills and exercise gadgets coming out for quick weight loss, you would think the secret would be out by now.  The truth of the matter is there is no magic bullet when it comes to losing weight quickly.  However, there are some guiding principles that can help you.

The major principle for losing weight is the equation that says you must eat fewer calories than you burn.  So if you want to lose weight quickly, you will need to accelerate this.  Now before you put yourself on a severely restricted diet, keep in mind that if your body goes into what is called starvation mode, your metabolism will slow down and your body will not burn fat and calories as quickly as you would if you were eating several small, low calorie and nutritious meals a day and exercising on a regular basis.

A quick weight loss diet usually will aim for around a daily intake of about 1200-1800 calories per day.  Anything less than 1200 could be potentially dangerous. Don’t listen to the “experts” pushing “quick weight loss diets” that tell you to starve yourself. No matter what type of diet you decide to go on, it is best to check with your doctor or a dietitian first.

To lose weight quickly, you might be able to eat about 1200 calories a day and exercise for one hour each day.  This is about the limit that most bodies can handle, and again you will need to check with your physician.  With this type of diet and exercise regime you could reasonably expect to lose about three to five pounds during the early weeks and then approximately three pounds a week going forward.  This is quick way to lose weight.  However, most weight loss experts say that a reasonable weight loss goal is to aim for losing about a pound a week.

The main point that needs to be emphasized here is that whether you want to lose weight quickly or over a longer period of time, the principles are the same.  It comes down to consuming fewer calories than you burn. That’s really all there is to a diet for quick weight loss. Eating healthy, low calorie foods and combining that with a good exercise program will help you burn off calories and fat and you will start to lose weight.  A quick weight loss diet will push the number of calories consumed as well as the amount of exercise you need to do.  In other words, in order to lose weight quickly you will need to put in extra effort in terms of your calories as well as the amount of exercise you do each day.
